The first dig effort in Shovel Eater since the 1980's. Great progress made through the first crawl and about 10 feet down the pit. Blocked pit with rubble but will remove it by bucket on our next trip. Tight pit, but goes down 20 feet or so and moves good air.

Met owner of nearby 40 foot deept pit. Reports steam emerges from pit in the winter. Plans to fill the pit, but offered to build him a fence around it instead.
